first attempt at homemade potato skins

I think it turned out quite nice.  I used a melon ball scoop and just made a fancy mash to stuff the skins.  Next time I'll add some kind of meat.

baby man-bun

Not only his outfit was adorable but my friend gave him a man bun!

Finally, some HP sauce!

Soft boiled egg and uncured bacon end pieces on whole grain toast with an added bonus HP sauce!!  I've been waiting for that sauce for a very long time.  I can't get it here anymore so my friends in Wales sent me some and ohhh the pleasure I had eating my breakfast this morning.  Love my late birthday present :)

English bulldog has so much patience...

Best friends for life!  My dog has so much patience for his shinnanagins.  Love my bully, thank you for being my best friend and helping me take care of our baby.

BOO!

He had a few costumes that he wore for the month of October, this was my favorite day to day outfit.

8 months...

8 months already?!

doggy bone for baby teething

He's still teething and all his teether's are no longer appealing to him.  He has now moved on to my dogs chewing bone.  I couldn't get him to stop and well my dog has no interest in that chew toy so I just gave it a good cleaning and let him naw on it.  bless his heart

New toys!

I got him this Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Puppy & Pals Learning Table because he loves standing now and is climbing on everything.  I would give this a thumbs up!  He still climbs up on furniture but not as much since he would get distracted when the learning table activates the sounds.

Pacifier phatom...

I love it when he still thinks he's sucking on a pacifier.

Curious eyes...

Yep, his curiosity has expanded.  I've decided to make that bottom drawer his.  It now has one of those foam padding on it so he doesn't close his fingers in cause that already happened and some of his toys are in there along with some wooden utensils.  He loves to watch me cook and climbs on me when I'm cleaning dishes.  Love love love!!

Not a baker...

Just like the title says, I'm not a baker.  I wanted to make some lactation cookies because I haven't been producing enough ever since my baby started eating solids and everyday stress has been getting more stressful.  So I decided to make some cookies!  Not just any cookies but lactation ones and I found this recipe that swears it works.  I decided to give it a go.  Well the ingredients were hard to come by and very expensive, I mean where in the world can you find wholemeal self rising flour?!  Well I can tell you that it wasn't at wholefoods and the brewer's yeast price can just go to hell!  I bought it anyways.  So I needed help finding the flour and a nice guy that works at wholefoods helped me out.  Well it turns out that I didn't get the self rising one and I looked up what I can do to make it.  I was already home and I sure as heck did not want to go back out to buy baking powder.  Anyways I made them.  There's a reason for the self-rising flour.  My cookies turned out flat and tasted disgusting oh and I used steel cut oats instead of rolled oats.  Yeah, disaster.  So I tempted to try again and this time I used coconut flour...Nope was even worse!  I gave up.  I went to bring back the flour to wholefoods and a different person helped me out.  I didn't want my money back I just wanted flour that worked.  He suggested I should try one of those all in one package cookies.  The one that has all the ingredients in it  and just add the brewers yeast.  He told me that was just a suggestion so I took him up on it.  Holy dear!  It worked!  But next time I'll just use 1 tablespoon of brewers yeast.  Who knew?

Baby gates, learning to accept them

I had to give in and get a couple of baby gates.  Let's just say he was not happy about it.  He has this habit of going in the kitchen and digging in the dog's food and water bowl.  So I decided to block that area and oh boy!  He cried and cried and cried like it was the saddest moment of his life.  He kept leaning back and forth from the gate like he didn't know what to do with it.  I had to stand my ground and not pick him up or take it down.  I can't believe I lasted but in the end he lightened up and just accepted it.  Bless him.

Homemade coconut puree, literally from scratch

So I wanted my baby to have some coconut added to his diet but I didn't want to get the store bought junk.  Instead I bought some fresh young coconut and just used what was in it.  Real simple and super good.  The best thing about making this puree is that he can have it on its own but not too much or mix it with other foods.  Oh and don't forget the coconut water that comes in it, he absolutely loves it!
  • 1 young coconut
  • food processor or blender
Now you need to get the water out of the nut and set aside.  I use a strainer so no shell bits go in the glass.  Then scoop out the meat, put it in the blender, add a bit of coconut water and that's it!  Done.

Munchkin fresh food feeder review...

So I was told to try this mesh looking thing that you can put frozen fruit or non frozen fruit in so that the baby can suck the juice without choking if there were any seeds or strings.  It's called the Munchkin fresh food feeder.  It's a pretty neat contraption and I've been using it to put frozen pieces of fruit for him to suck on to help calm his teething pain.  Can't believe this actually works, plus I can have him work on a piece of fruit while I do some cleaning.  He's been crawling everywhere and his latest thing is pulling cords.  Let's just say I have all the cords hung up or unplugged and hidden.  I can't wait til he gets over that.  Anyway back to the food feeder, he loves it!  I can also have it on the go when I'm out and about.  I don't feel so bad if I can't seem to nurse him right away.  That's him eating a pear.

God bless the BOBA

For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, a boba is a baby wearing baby carrier.  My baby is teething and is now taking in solid foods.  He normally goes to sleep when I nurse him but lately with the changes he's going through, it has been hard putting him to bed or napping.  So for the past two weeks I've been using my boba to have him calm down.  When I first started to use the boba it was for our walks with my dog, he would be so calmed and he enjoyed the fresh air.  Now when he see's me get it out, he lights up.  I guess he's been also missing me with me going to work longer hours.  Aww, I miss you too sweetheart.
So for those of you that get invited to a baby shower or know someone that is having a baby and want to get them a gift, a boba is a great idea!

Making apple sauce

Ok so I'm learning how to make my own baby food and also learning what mixes well with it.  This is a simple recipe and all the ingredients are of course all natural sugars.  No sugar added!  Here it goes...

  • 1 apple no seeds and it could be any apple you want
  • half ripen banana
  • 2 tablespoons of unsweetened original Almond milk.  I like to use Silk brand
  • a few dashes of cinnamon
Blend all together until puree and that's it!  You can also use it as an additive for cooking or baking.  Have fun!
